2025 Children’s Behavioral Health Summit

Breaking Stigmas, Empowering Families, Creating System Change

Join us on Monday, May 5th to explore how personal stories can drive change, break down stigma, and influence policy. Participants will engage in discussions on the value of lived experience, learn how to effectively share their stories, and discover where their voices can make the biggest impact. Breakout
sessions will provide space to explore advocacy & training opportunities, while a panel of youth, parents, and system leaders will highlight real-world examples of lived experience shaping the system. By coming together, we can strengthen our collective voice and create a more inclusive and responsive behavioral health system in Washington State.

Committees and Workgroups

Are you looking for a way to make a difference or a place to volunteer? WSCC has many opportunities for those who want to make a difference. This page shows the current Workgroups and Committees that are volunteer-run and making great things happen throughout the organization and the state.

Committee/Work Group Member Commitment Form

Through our Statewide Family Network, WSCC provides a safe space for our community to provide input on our organizational work and Behavioral Health services available in our state.

Advocacy Leadership and Training

3rd Thursday 5:00-6:00 PM

During the legislative session, this group will monitor policy developments that could impact children’s behavioral health, whether positively or negatively, and share this information with the larger network.
Additionally, the group will seek out and provide training on lobbying, leadership, advocacy, and system improvement while adhering to federal and state laws that prohibit the use of government funds to influence the legislature.
This group will also work to understand how other organizations successfully advance their legislative agendas within federal and state regulations and will focus on developing actionable implementation plans.

Children’s Behavioral Health Continuum of Care

Meets 4th Wednesday 5:30-7:00 pm beginning November 2025

This workgroup is designed for those committed to identifying challenges and gaps within the Children’s Behavioral Health System, spanning outpatient care, intensive services, short-term and long-term inpatient care. Participants will focus on specific areas of interest, working to develop recommendations for system improvements while also recognizing and highlighting existing strengths.
The group’s recommendations will be compiled and submitted to the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery/Health Care Authority and may also be shared with other relevant entities and regional FYSPRTs.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI)

2nd Thursday 6:30–7:30 PM

The EDI Committee is dedicated to ensuring that the work of the Statewide Family Network, hosted by WSCC, is guided by equity, diversity, and inclusion values. This committee provides a safe and supportive space to develop procedures that uphold these principles in all aspects of our work.
Our goals include identifying and engaging family leaders from underrepresented communities, inviting them to join us, and amplifying their voices in our initiatives. Additionally, we aim to connect with experts in equity, diversity, and inclusion who can partner with us to provide valuable training for the Statewide Family Network.

Family Leader Opportunities and Family Peer Support

2nd Wednesday, 5:30 PM-7:00 PM

This workgroup focuses on identifying opportunities within Washington State’s children’s behavioral health system and related systems to amplify the voices of parents and caregivers. It will work to identify open seats for parent representatives on advisory committees, steering committees, and workgroups. Additionally, the group will explore areas where family voice is needed but where no formal parent/caregiver role currently exists, developing ongoing strategies to ensure the broader Statewide Family Network stays informed about these opportunities.
This workgroup is designed for parents with lived experience who may be interested in becoming Family Peer Support Specialists. It provides a space to learn about the role, including its rules, policies, and available positions. Participants will also prepare feedback and recommendations as consumers of these services, which will be shared with relevant entities such as committees, state agencies, system partners, and Family, Youth, and System Partner Round Tables (FYSPRTs).

Washington State Children’s Behavioral Health Statewide Family Network, “A Dedicated Space for Parents/Caregivers”

3rd Tuesday, 6:00 PM-7:30 PM

GOAL: These meetings are a dedicated space for parents/caregivers of children, youth, and young adults to come together to use our voices and lived experiences to impact system change. The format will include time for updates on what is happening in our children/youth behavioral health community around the state, discussions around policy and system gaps you would like to see the WA Statewide Family Network focus on, and space for learning and sharing together. The challenges/gaps, needs, and solution ideas identified by the parents/caregivers at this meeting will be moved forward to the appropriate workgroup or subcommittee so they can prioritize and make action plans around priorities.
