SUMMARY:School-based Behavioral Health & Suicide Prevention Subcommittee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The School-Based Behavioral Health & Suicide Prevention Subcommittee is convened by the WA Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) along with the WA Health Care Authority (HCA). Each year\, the group advises the Children & Youth Behavioral Health Work Group on creating and maintaining an integrated system of care through a tiered support framework for preschool through twelfth grade school systems defined by OSPI and behavioral health care systems that can 1) rapidly identify students in need of care and effectively link these students to appropriate services\, 2) provide age-appropriate education on behavioral health and other universal supports for social-emotional wellness for all students\, and 3) improve both education and behavioral health outcomes for students. \nThe Subcommittee is currently made up of 34 members\, including youth\, family members\, school district staff\, school-based behavioral health providers\, and staff from advocacy and technical support organizations. Meetings include presentations from community stakeholders on school-based behavioral health related topics and opportunities to discuss needs in the state system and are open to the public. \nMeetings are bi-monthly (every other month) and take place on the first Friday of even-numbered months\, from 9 am – noon.
